Darren has a unique blend of skills and experience which make him ideally suited for a career as a répétiteur/coach in opera houses. A strong pianistic ability, combined with impressive analytic skills, sight reading skills and a genuine enthusiasm for the wider musical repertoire. As such he is an unusually well-rounded musician.
Stephen MouldFormer Head of Music/Conductor, Opera Australia, Chair of Opera Production, Sydney Conservatorium of Music
Darren ... was always in touch with the momentum of the rehearsal and followed the conductor expertly. In terms of the musical support a director, conductor and cast of singers need from a répétiteur in order to be able to rehearse fluently and creatively, Darren's contribution was entirely appropriate and professional.
Dominic WheelerHead of Opera, Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London
Darren was very well prepared ... his playing was steady, incisive, rhythmical and colourful. He followed the conductor well.
Lionel FriendConductor, London
It is my pleasure to recommend Darren as a first class pianist and répétiteur ... [his] commitment to the work and his exemplary skill and sensitivity were pivotal to the success of the production ... I was immensely grateful to have such a fine talent as an advocate.
